The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is very complex. If you are experiencing any issues, especially pain, it is important to be seen by an experienced dentist who can help investigate the cause and possible treatment options. At The Dental Lounge, we take a comprehensive approach, collaborating with a team of physical therapists and oral surgeons as needed. We understand it sometimes takes more than just a night guard.
Dentists can play a key role in addressing sleep apnea. In fact, the American Dental Association recommends that all patients be screened for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) by asking a few questions and looking in the mouth for certain clues.
At The Dental Lounge, we’re passionate about dental sleep medicine because it can have a dramatic impact on your overall health. We collaborate with sleep physicians to screen for sleep-related breathing disorders, including OSA. We can even help get you scheduled for a consult during your visit. If you are diagnosed with OSA, your sleep physician may suggest treatments like a CPAP, lifestyle changes, or oral appliance therapy (OAT).
OAT involves a wearing a custom-fitted device at night to keep your airway open. If your sleep physician prescribes OAT, you can return to The Dental Lounge to move forward with your custom appliance. We may even be able to bill your medical insurance.
Clear aligners can be a great option for many people, and we’d love to help you find out if they’re right for you. At The Dental Lounge, we treat a variety of cases with clear aligner therapy. If you’re new to our practice, we recommend sending over your current dental records beforehand. For more complex cases, we may refer you to a trusted orthodontist in our network to ensure you get the best care possible. Either way, we’re here to guide you toward achieving your smile goals.
Your first visit with us depends on the type of appointment you schedule. For new patients, we’ll start with a friendly interview, take x-rays, and perform a thorough exam of your jaw, gums, and teeth. The dentist will then create a personalized treatment plan just for you. You may also have a cleaning during this visit.
If you’re coming in for an emergency or a single concern, we’ll focus on that area, take any necessary x-rays, and discuss the next steps. Either way, we’re here to make your visit smooth and comfortable. Feel free to call us at 910-530-1370 if you have any questions or book online today.
